No. 25 Washburn rings up fourth straight shutout in 1-0 win over Griffons

St. JOSEPH, Mo. -- No. 25 Washburn (10-1-0, 4-0-0) netted a fourth straight shutout Friday night and scored a second half goal to defeat Missouri Western (3-4-4, 1-1-1) on the road 1-0. The Ichabods finish the week on Sunday against Northwest Missouri State at 1 p.m.

The win kept Washburn undefeated in MIAA play and was the first road test for the Ichabods in conference action.

Washburn forced a corner kick late in the 54th minute which was taken by Mackinly Rohn who deposited the ball into the box and Belle Kennedy was able to head it high into the net early in the 55th minute. Rohn netted her conference leading 7th assist of the season and Kennedy got on the board with her first goal of the year.

The Ichabods put pressure on the Griffons from the start taking six shots over the first 45 minutes while holding the home team to just two. Four of Washburn's shots were on-target but didn't find the back of the net. Over the full 90 minutes the Ichabods held a shot advantage of 11 to five, the gap was wider for on-target attempts with Washburn making nine and holding Missouri Western to just one.

Kennedy and Khloe Schuckman paced Washburn with three shots each, all going on goal.

Raegan Wells made the save on the only Griffon shot that was on target. She recorded her fourth straight solo shutout and sixth of the season. Josie Boyle, Lakin Rold and Jordan Tenpas all played all 90 minutes on defense to assist in the shutout.

Washburn managed four corner kick opportunities in the match, converting one for a goal. On defense they didn't allow the Griffons to attempt any.

Jaden Skinner took three of five shots in the match for Missouri Western, Keeley Kroonenberg made eight saves in goal playing all 90 minutes.
