Ichabods move to 2nd round of NCAA Tourney with overtime win against OBU

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabods' Khloe Schuckman scored an unassisted goal in the 97th minute helping to propel the Ichabods into a Sunday showdown with Central Missouri in the second round of the NCAA playoffs with a 1-0 win over Ouachita Baptist on Friday night. The Ichabods and the Jennies will face off for the second time this season on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Yager Stadium. Washburn won the first meeting of the year between the two teams in a 1-0 win on Oct. 15 in Topeka.

After playing two 45-minute halves to a scoreless draw, the Ichabods (17-3-1) broke the deadlock in the first of two overtime periods when Schuckman's seventh goal of the season found the lower left hand corner of the net for the eventual match-winner.

The Ichabods held the Tigers (11-3-7) at bay in the two overtime frames holding them without a shot en route to a 19 to 7 advantage in shots in the match.

Raegen Wells picked up the shutout, her 11th of the season and the 25th of her career improving to 17-3-1 in net this season recording five saves. She also lifted her career saves mark to 333, tying Tori Fuglister for the most in a Washburn career.

Shuckman finished with six shots while Viviana Soto-Herrera had three as the Ichabods outshot the Tigers 17 to 7 in regulation.

Amerie Thomas had two shots for the Tigers in the match and Michele Snow had nine saves in net for the Tigers.
