WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Washburn baseball fell at Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon, 8-0. The Ichabods will play next on Sunday at Barry.
The Sailfish (5-0) scored two runs in each of the first three innings to lead 6-0 heading into the fourth frame.
Cole Warner took over on the mound in the third and turned in 3 2/3 scoreless innings with a pair of 1-2-3 frames in the fourth and sixth. With two outs in the seventh, a fielding error allowed a runner on and he came around to score on a triple to make it 7-0.
The final run of the afternoon happened in the eighth when a walk came around to score after a passed ball, ground out, and then RBI infield single.
The Ichabods (1-6) had a runner on base in every inning except sixth. The Sailfish out hit the Ichabods, 9-7.
Trey Adams and
Caden Bressler each had two hits.
Warner threw 4 2/3 innings in relief and allowed just one run and one hit, two walks, and struck out three.
