LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 22-ranked Washburn Ichabods went 1-1 on the opening day of the season falling in the opener 6-4 to Southern Nazarene before taking the nightcap against host and No. 21-ranked Lubbock Christian 2-0. The Ichabods will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with games against Colorado Springs at 3 p.m. and Eastern New Mexico at 5 p.m.

After SNU scored one in its first at bat, the Ichabods came back with two of their own in the bottom of the first when
Marrit Mead was hit by a pitch leading off the frame and then moved to third on a single by
Paige Robbins. After Robbins stole second, Jayce Ginter singled up the middle scoring Mead and Robbins.
The Crimson Storm (1-0) scored four runs on five hits off Ichabod starter
Sadie Walker (0-1). The Ichabods came back with two in the third inning when
Kimi Patterson bunt scored Robbins who doubled to lead off the inning cutting the lead to 5-3.
Neither team scored until SNU scored in the top of the seventh when the Crimson Storm got one. Washburn rallied with one in the bottom of the seventh when Mead doubled to lead off the inning and would score on a sac fly by Ginter.
Walker tossed three innings allowing five earned runs. Robbins and Ginter each had hits to lead the Ichabods.
Game 2 - #22 Washburn 2, #21 Lubbock Christian 0
Jaycee Ginter struck out 12 scattering four hits blanking the No. 21 Chapps in a 2-0 win.
Washburn (1-1) scored solo runs in the second and third innings for the only runs of the game. In the second,
Jaden LaBarge, who led the Ichabods with two hits, singled to start the inning and moved to second on a wild pitch and came around to score on an error by the Chapps (0-1).
In the third,
Ellington Hogle walked and then swiped second moving to third on a passed ball and crossed home on a
Paige Robbins single.
Ginter (1-0) walked two facing 26 batters while Hogle had the Ichabods' other hit.
