HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Ichabods got their first win of the season with a 7-2 decision over Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday evening. The Ichabods will make the short drive down to Henderson State on Sunday to take on the Reddies at noon.

Washburn's leadoff man, Cal Watkins, got the game started by reaching first on an error and then moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Trey Adams. Cale Savage traded places with Watkins with a double to center field to put the Ichabods on the board.

Southeastern Oklahoma (1-1) leveled the score in the second inning with an unearned run.

In the third inning, the Ichabods loaded up the bases and had two outs when Trevor McCollum worked a walk to bring in a run and put Washburn in front, 2-1.

Washburn (1-1) added some cushion to its lead in the fourth inning with four runs on five hits. With one out and runners on the corners, Watkins cleared the bases with one swing and sent a home run ball over the right field fence. The Ichabods kept the line moving and loaded up the bases with two outs when Ike Book hit an RBI single to bring in Easton Bruce and give the Washburn a 6-1 lead.

Southeastern Oklahoma got one run back in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice to make it 6-2.

Connor Scott led off the fifth with a walk and then moved up to third on a double by Caden Bressler. A wild pitch brought in the Ichabods' seventh and final run of the game.

The Washburn pitchers did not allow a runner past second base from the fifth until the ninth inning. The Savage Storm had the bases loaded with two outs, but did not get a run across as the Ichabods recorded the final out on a fly out to right.

The Ichabods out hit the Savage Storm, 9-6, and held SEOSU to all singles. Washburn hit three double and the Ichabod pitchers combined for nine strikeouts.

Seven of the nine Ichabods in the starting lineup had at least one hit. Watkins scored three runs and had three RBI. Savage had two hits, including a double.
