WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Washburn suffered its second straight loss to a top-15 team on Thursday afternoon with the Ichabods losing 7-0 to No. 12 Rollins College. Washburn takes on No. 21 Flagler College at 2 p.m. central time on Sunday after a schedule change.
The Ichabods got a quick win in doubles play to begin the day, with No. 34 Tim Hammes and Santiago Rendon winning 6-1 at No. 2. After picking up a ranked win yesterday Miquel Perez and Sebastian Pjontek fell 6-3 at No. 1 to even the score. Yoshinobu Nakatsuji and Daniel Bird led early but could not hold on at No. 3, falling 7-5.
No. 70 Pjontek fell to begin singles play, losing both sets 6-0 at No. 2. The Tars picked up another point at No. 6 with Moritz Pieper losing two sets 6-1. Perez also took a two set loss at No. 5, losing 6-3 in the first set and 6-2 in the second to clinch the match for Rollins.
Rendon battled early but lost his first set 6-3 and fell again in the second set, 6-1. The Tars continued earning points with Bird falling 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. No. 58 Hammes won his first set 6-3 from No. 1 and led early in the second before losing 7-6(3). In the super tiebreaker he came up just short, falling 10-5 as Rollins completed the sweep.
