No. 20 Ichabods swept by Lions in a pair of 3-1 contests

JOPLIN, Mo. – The No. 20 Washburn Ichabods were tripped up in a pair of games at Missouri Southern on Friday night falling 3-1 in both games to the Lions, who were just outside of the NFCA top 25 this week. Washburn will be back in action on Saturday at Pittsburg State.

Game 1 – MSSU 3, WU 1
The Ichabods jumped on the board first taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Marrit Mead doubled to right center scoring Jaden LaBarge who led off the inning with a single. Neither team would score until the fifth when the Lions put all three of their runs on the board to take the 3-1 lead. The Ichabods would leave two runners on in the sixth and go down in order in the seventh taking the loss.

Mead had two of Washburn's five hits. Ginter dropped to 21-6 in the circle striking out six.

Game 2 – MSSU 3, WU 1
After the Lions (30-7, 15-1 MIAA) scored a solo run in the bottom of the first, Washburn (31-11, 10-8 MIAA) came back with a run in the top of the second tying the score at one on a solo home run by Erin Boles to left center. However the Lions took the lead in the second and added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to secure the 3-1 win.
