Washburn bats go quiet in loss to Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. –  Washburn baseball's offense struggled to get going in the 8-1 loss to Central Oklahoma on Friday afternoon. The final game of the series will be Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Bronchos (25-11, 13-9 MIAA) got the scoring started in the first and went up 1-0 on a sacrifice fly. They added to their lead with another run in the second.

In the fourth inning, Cale Savage drew a leadoff walk for Washburn (21-15, 14-8 MIAA) and then scored all the way from first on Trey Adams' double down the right field line to cut UCO's lead in half.

Central Oklahoma added some cushion to its lead in the sixth inning after getting two runs in on a double down the right field line. UCO finished out the scoring with a four-run eighth inning to go up 8-1.

The Bronchos had a 10-5 advantage in hits. Three of Washburn's five hits were doubles, but only one Ichabod base runner made it past second base. Adams, Trevor McCollum, and Andrew Paulsey each landed a double in the contest.
