TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn fell behind early to Wayne State (2-2) but scored the final four goals of the match to win a decisive 4-1 match on Sunday afternoon. The Ichabods (3-1) completed an undefeated homestand and will travel to Emporia State on Friday at 3 p.m.
After scoring four goals in the first half on Friday and never trailing Washburn went down in the sixth minute of the match with the Wildcats scoring on a breakaway. The Ichabods didn't allow another shot attempt the rest of the half for Wayne State but trailed through the first 25 minutes. In the 26th minute Ana Muruzabal got a pass in the box from Viviana Soto-Herrera and deposited it into the left side of the net to tie the score.
Washburn had seven total shots in the first half but weren't able to put any away. Early in the second half that changed as Aubrey Tanksley headed the eventual game winning goal into the net in the 51st minute. Mackinly Rohn connected with her on the assist off a corner kick.
In the 73rd minute Rohn got another corner kick opportunity and put another ball in the box that deflected off a Wildcat into the net for her first career goal which put the Ichabods up 3-1. Washburn continued to push late into the game and Linsey Maul was able to take advantage, scoring her first career goal off an assist from Muruzabal in the 83rd minute to complete the scoring for the match.
The Ichabods ended the match taking 17 shots with 13 going on goal. Eleven different players had on-target attempts but Rohn and Soto-Herrera led with two each. The Wildcats attempted three total shots with two going on-goal. Raegan Wells made one save on the other shot, playing all 90 minutes in goal. Lakin Rold and Taylor Bockover each played a full 90 minutes on defense. Twenty-one total players made appearances for Washburn.
Hayden Wallace had nine saves in goal for Wayne State, playing all 90 minutes, while Reagan Allen scored the goal.
