TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn cross country's Donald Kibet and Ichabod basketball's Payton Sterk have been named the Hy-Vee Student Athletes of the Week for their individual performances last week.  

Payton Sterk led the offensive attack in a pair of 22-point victories for the Ichabods as the transfer averaged 23.5 ppg on 55.2% shooting from the floor. She was 9-16 from three-point range while adding 2.5 rpg and 3.0 apg. On the defensive end she also made one steal in each contest. In Washburn's first win of the season over William Jewell the junior scored 25 points on 8-14 shooting in just 28 minutes while adding 4 rebounds and assists. 

Donald Kibet earned his second All-American award in cross country as an Ichabod after leading the team with a 35th-place finish in a time of 30:27.8 at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships. At last season's national championships where he finished 28th. His time was the ninth-fastest time in program history on an 10K course.
