JOPLIN, MO. - The Washburn Soccer Team beat MIAA foe Missouri Southern 5-1 on Friday night.
"I thought we did well in most aspects of the game tonight. It's always tough to get points on the road in this conference, so I'm very happy with the team performance today. We have to make sure we continue to grow, but I'm really proud of the progress the team continues to make," said Head Coach

FIRST HALF
The first half was filled with goals. Missouri Southern opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute from a penalty kick. Washburn responded directly back in the 13th minute with a goal from Freshman
Leah Henke, then Henke would score two more in the 15th(assisted by
Grace Peterson) & 17th minutes to complete her hat-trick. First hat-trick from an Ichabod player since 2022 by
Khloe Schuckman, who also did so against Missouri Southern. Washburn recorded 14 shots with 8 of them on target, while only allowing 3 in the half.
SECOND HALF
Washburn would add a fourth in the 55th minute by way of
Kate Hinck for her 3rd goal of the season, and was assisted by
Brynn Allison. Washburn would wrap up the game for good with a 5th goal by
Jules Wardlaw(assist by
Bricelyn Betts) in the 73rd minute. Washburn took 5 shots with 4 on goal.
GAME NOTES
- Washburn recorded 19 shots, 12 of which were on goal.
- Washburn only allowed 8 shots by Missouri Southern.
- Both teams took 5 corners.
- Freshman Leah Henke had a hat-trick, which brings her tally to 8 on the year.
