TOPEKA, KAN. - The Washburn Soccer team saw victory in their MIAA Home Opener.
"From minute 1 to minute 90, we played the way we want to play," said Head Coach
Davy Phillips.
Washburn(5-2-2, 2-0-1) was dominant in its 3-0 win over Nebraska-Kearney(2-4-2, 0-1-2) Friday night.
FIRST HALF
The Ichabods took 5 shots in the opening six minutes. Washburn then found an early goal in the 8th minute of the match from
Kate Hinck, who scored her second goal of the season. Fellow Freshman
Leah Henke assisted her. The Ichabods would continue their pressure on the Loper's goal, in the 34th minute, Senior
Shaye Taylor headed one home for her second goal of the year and of her college career, assisted by Freshman
Lydia Keller. Washburn took 14 shots and forced 3 saves out of the UNK goalkeeper.
SECOND HALF
Washburn would continue their pressing style and would find their third goal in the 54th minute, where
Aubrey Tanksley would find
Leah Henke on a cross and would bury it bottom left corner for her 5th goal of her Freshman campaign.
Lili Everley would make 2 of her 3 saves to keep her fifth straight clean sheet.
