TOPEKA, KAN. - The No. 16 Washburn Soccer exits the MIAA Tournament after a 3-2 loss against rival Emporia State.
FIRST HALF
Washburn got off to a hot start with Junior
Mackinly Rohn scoring an Olimpico in the 2nd minute to put the Ichabods ahead. The Ichabods would add another in the 18th minute by way of
Kate Hinck for her 5th goal of the season,
Sam Searcey assisted her. The Hornets would get one back in the 34th by way of Ella Favot.
SECOND HALF
Emporia State would find an equalizer in the 59th minute from a corner by Abby Bachman, which found the head of Ruby Ryan. Then would eventually take the lead in the 65th with a long-range strike by Kylie Richardson.
The loss ends Washburn's 14-match unbeaten streak, and ends MIAA Tournament hopes in the opening round.
NOTES
- Washburn allows more than 1 goal for the first time since September 14th against Mary.
- Washburn outshot the Hornets 14-10
- Lili Everley made 4 saves on the day.
- Mackinly Rohn scored her 3rd goal of the year
- Freshman Kate Hinck netted her 5th goal of her first year as an Ichabod.
- Sam Searcey got her 4th assist of the year and her 9th goal contribution on the year.
