TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's Bryson Smith from Ichabod basketball and Leah Henke from Ichabod soccer have been named the Hy-Vee Student-Athletes of the Week for action ending Dec. 7.

Leah Henke's goal in the 61st minute broke a 2-2 tie in the NCAA National Quarterfinals as the Ichabods would go on to beat Missouri-St. Louis 3-2 as the team advanced to its second NCAA Final Four in three years. The goal was Henke's 12 of the season.
 

Bryson Smith averaged 18.5 ppg with 5.5 rpg as Washburn opened MIAA play 2-0 with wins over Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State last week. Against the Lopers he scored 15 adding a season-high six rebounds in the win. Against the Tigers, Smith tied a Washburn high with 22 points hitting 9 of 10 free throws with two assists and four steals.
