TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball had three players earn spots on the 2025 Sports Communicators Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday.     

The All-District and All-America teams recognize women's basketball athletes at each NCAA division based on their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Freshmen are not eligible to be selected for the team while transfers in their first year are eligible.     

From the Ichabods, Payton Sterk, Gabi Giovannetti and Aniah Wayne were each selected. All three earn the honor for the first time in their careers at Washburn. Sterk will advance to the CSC Academic All-America finalist ballot.  

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16, 2025.
