TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball head coach Lora Westling announced the signing of three transfer student-athletes to the 2025-26 roster on Wednesday afternoon. Kylin Shipman (Laramie, Wy.), Britany Kogbara (Peoria, Ariz.) and Kellyn Hunter (Mobile, Ala.) will round out the Ichabod roster during the upcoming season.
Westling on the class: "I am grateful to my staff for their tireless efforts in landing this incredible recruiting class. These three transfer student-athletes will join incoming freshman Kennadi Jackson, in making an immediate impact in their respective positions and in the success of our program. They are all tremendous players but more importantly, possess the work ethic and character that Ichabod fans will love to cheer for. They are great students and will raise the bar in our program in every facet."

Background: Spent one season at Regis University playing in 10 games and making one start ... scored 20 points with nine rebounds and six steals in 96 minutes ... a four-year member of the Laramie High School basketball team ... earned All-State and All-Conference honors as a sophomore averaging 14 ppg ... also named an All-State and All-Conference selection during junior and senior seasons ... averaged 16 ppg and 4 apg as a junior ... helped the Plainsman to a state tournament appearance as a senior ... also participated in tennis for two seasons

Westling on Shipman: "Coming out of high school, Kylin was one of the best high school players in the state of Wyoming. She has great rhythm, toughness, and a very high ceiling. As a freshman she was able to compete against a few high-level guards every day which is evident in the progression of her game. She is very competitive and possesses a high basketball IQ."

Background: Spent two seasons at Mesa Community College where she averaged 13.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 1.4 bpg in 2024-25 as a sophomore ... helped the Thunderbirds go 25-10 and earn a bid into the national tournament ... named as the NJCAA First Team All-American as a sophomore ... a four-year member of the Peoria HS basketball team ... named All-Region first team and the Region Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore after averaging 4.1 bpg ... also averaged 13.8 ppg with 17.4 rpg ... repeated as an All-Region first team selection in both junior and senior seasons ... also played three seasons of volleyball for the Panthers

Westling on Kogbara: "Britany is a versatile power forward that is one of the best pursuit rebounders I have ever seen. She is strong, physical, has shooting touch, loves the low post, and can guard any position. It is clear to see why she was a selected as an All-American at her junior college and will bring valuable depth to our front court."

Westling on Hunter: "Kellyn is a three-level scorer that is extremely competitive. She can set the tone in the point guard position and makes those around her better. She is passionate about winning and that was a big draw for us. This is a player that has received numerous accolades in her first two years, but isn't close to satisfied in her production. We will look forward to seeing her motor impact every phase of the game."
