KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Washburn Ichabod senior first baseman
Jaden LaBarge has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week after her record-breaking performance against Emporia State in her final games in Gahnstrom Field.
LaBarge was 4 for 5 in two games against the Hornets tallying four home runs and 8 RBI with two walks in the Ichabods' only action of the week tying two school records in the opener. LaBarge hit three home runs in the opener going 3 for 3 overall. It was the first by an Ichabod had hit three home runs in a single game since Taylor Zimmerman had three at Lincoln on March 4, 2016. It was only the fourth time in program history an Ichabod had a three-homer day. Her 7 RBI in the opener also tied a school record and it was the first time for an Ichabod to have 7 RBI in a game since Taylor Kirk had seven at Lincoln on March 3, 2018. It was the eighth time an Ichabod had driven in seven in a single game.
In the second game, she was 1 for 2 with another home run and two walks in the nightcap. She had 10 putouts in each game and raised her batting average 21 points in the doubleheader.
The Ichabods will open the postseason on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Hays, Kan. when they will take on Rogers State in the single-elimination MIAA Championship Tournament.
