KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the second-straight week, Washburn pole vaulter
Matteo Madrassi has been named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence last weekend.
Madrassi tied for second with a school-record clearance of 5.21 meters (17-01.00), also an NCAA provisional mark and he was the highest non-Division I finisher. His height was the same as the winner from KU, but moved into a tie for second with another KU pole vaulter on misses. His mark is the fifth-best in the nation this season entering the MIAA Championships in Emporia this weekend.
