TOPEKA, Kan. -- Both Washburn tennis teams remain ranked as the No. 1 team in the central region in the final NCAA Regional Rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Ichabod men are the first in a six-team group that includes three MIAA teams along with three from the GAC with Harding at No. 2 and Northwest Missouri at No. 3. The top two teams in the region will each host one team to advance into the NCAA National Championships.  

Washburn women's tennis remain at the top of the eight-team field that will be narrowed down to six for the tournament. Four of the eight teams hail from the MIAA with two NSIC schools and a pair from the GAC. The top two teams will serve as a host site and get a bye in the first round before playing one game to advance to the NCAA National Championships.  

These rankings are the final release from the NCAA before the official selection show on Monday, May 5 beginning at 8 p.m. EST for the men with the women's show set for 8:30 p.m. EST.
