TOPEKA, Kan. -- Three members of the Washburn tennis squads were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list released on Tuesday. Tim Hammes and Vasek Schneider represented the men's team while Peyton Koper earned a nod on the women's side.
The All-District and All-America teams recognize tennis athletes at each NCAA division based on their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Freshmen are not eligible to be selected for the team while as of 2023 transfers in their first year with a new school are eligible.
To be eligible nominees needed to be in the lineup for 70% of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores (not including fall tournaments). They also must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Tim Hammes and Vasek Schneider each earned this distinction.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 3 on the women's side and June 4 for the men.
