Washburn adds 2 All-Americans on day 2 of NCAA Outdoor Championships

5/23/2025 9:48:00 PM

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Washburn Ichabods men's and women's track team added two more All-Americans on its trip to Colorado for the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships as Justin Forde earned first-team All-American honors in the triple jump and Naiuri Krein picked up second-team All-American accolades on Friday afternoon. The championships will wrap up on Saturday.

Forde became the second individual in men's program history to finish in second place in an individual event, joining Braden Rose, who completed the task twice placing second in the discus and the hammer throw at the 2024 outdoor championships last season in Emporia. On his final jump, Forde broke his own school record with a mark of 16.19m (53-01.50) tying Donte Dockery from Wilmington (Del.). However, in NCAA Division II track and field, if two or more athletes tie in the triple jump at the championships, the tie is broken by examining their second-best valid qualifying mark, and then their third-best, and so on. Forde's second-best jump was 16.14m (52-11.50) compared to Dockery's second-best jump of 15.67m (51-05.00) giving Forde the second place on the podium and eight team points.

Krein earned her fourth All-American award as an Ichabod after finishing ninth in the heptathlon scoring 5,112 points.

Ransford Nti also competed in the triple jump and he finished 20th overall with a best jump of 14.88m (48-10.00)

Ilaria Villa finished 20th in the discus with a final throw of 45.09m (147-11).

The Ichabods will finish-off the championships with Isabel Demarco de Quadros in the pole vault starting at 12 p.m. CST and then on Saturday at 5:45 p.m., the Ichabods will have three in the men's high jump as Jordan Dale, Matthew Heckman and Alessandro Di Gregorio all look to add to Washburn's All-American tally for the weekend.

On the opening day of the championships, Matteo Madrassi earned second-team all-American honors in the men's pole vault after finishing ninth with a height of 5.12m (16-09.50).
