AUSTIN, Texas – For the first time in program history, the Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team will have two Academic All-America® selections named to the College Sports Communicators team.
Alessandro Di Gregorio was named a first-team Academic All-America® and
Jordan Dale was a second-team Academic All-America® pick.
Di Gregorio, a physics graduate with a 4.00 grade point average, picked up second-team All-American honors after finishing 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this past season and was a second-team all-MIAA honoree after finishing second in the high jump at the MIAA Outdoor Championships after competing in 11 events. He was also all-MIAA at the MIAA Indoor Championships placing third in the high jump. He won the high jump at the Rock Chalk Classic clearing 2.11m (6-11.00) and was named the winner of the MIAA's A-Game Scholar Athlete at the MIAA Outdoor Championships. This season he was also a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and the MIAA Academic Excellence listings.
Dale, an economics major with a 3.69 grade point average, earned All-American honors in the high jump at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships finishing fifth in each championship and was a two-time MIAA high jump champion winning both the MIAA Indoor and Outdoor titles this past year. Overall he recorded 11 top-five finishes in 11 events with four individual wins. He was also an USTFCCCA all-region selection in both the indoor and outdoor season and was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and the MIAA Scholar Athlete listing.
