TOPEKA, KAN - The Washburn Soccer Team gets back in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Harding.
The Ichabods were led by two underclassmen, Freshman
Kate Hinck & Sophomore
Sam Searcey, who both got goals in the first 45 minutes of the match.
FIRST HALF
In the 7th minute,
Kate Hinck scored her first goal as an Ichabod by finding the bottom corner to put the Ichabods on top. She was assisted by
Sam Searcey, who would, in the 28th minute, score her goal by tapping it home before the Harding goalkeeper could clear the ball. Washburn attempted 8 shots in the half, with half of them being on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Lili Everley saved the only shot of the half from the Lady Bison.
SECOND HALF
Washburn would continue to control the game in the second half, maintaining pressure on the Harding goal, taking five more shots, with one being saved. Washburn also took two corners in the second half to see out the match.
GAME NOTES
- Washburn took 13 shots, the second most in a game this season, 5 of them being on goal. Washburn only allowed 3 shots total, which is the least amount of shots Washburn has allowed so far this season.
- The Ichabods had five corners in the match, allowing only 2 from the Lady Bison.
- All six of Washburn's goals have been scored by underclassmen this season.
