TOPEKA, KAN – The Washburn Soccer Team picked up its second straight victory with a 1-0 win over Ouachita Baptist on Sunday afternoon at Yager Stadium.
The Ichabods were lifted by Senior defender
Shaye Taylor, who scored the lone goal of the match in the first half off a free kick in the 42nd minute.
FIRST HALF
In the 42nd minute, Taylor lined up a free kick from just outside the box and buried it past the goalkeeper into the upper corner to give Washburn the 1-0 advantage. The Ichabods created multiple chances throughout the half, totaling 6 shots, while holding the Tigers to just 1 shot that was handled by freshman goalkeeper
Lili Everley.
SECOND HALF
Washburn continued to hold control in the second half, applying steady pressure and keeping possession in Ouachita's half. The Ichabods registered 5 more shots and earned 3 corner kicks while limiting the Tigers to only 2 shots, neither of which threatened the goal as Everley posted her second consecutive shutout.
