TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's Tommy Cecchetti from Ichabod tennis and Lexie Fontaine from Ichabod track and field program have been named the Hy-Vee Student Athletes of the Week for their performances last week ending on Feb. 8.

Tommy Cecchetti helped the No. 6 Ichabods to their first conference win of the season sweeping Augustana 7-0 last Saturday. Cecchetti went 2-0 in the match beginning with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles with Kilian Martinez. In singles play he won a three-set dual over Tadeusz Michalowski at the No. 2 spot (6-1, 4-6, 10-7). 
 

Lexie Fontaine won the 800m at the Bearcat Invite in a time of 2:08.58 breaking the meet and Washburn's school record on Feb. 7 in Maryville. The time was nearly a full second faster then the second-place finisher and the seventh-best in the NCAA D2 ranks this season as well as the fastest in the MIAA this season.
