KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn freshman Kilian Martinez was named the MIAA/GAC North Division Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week presented by ClassicCourt by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.  

Kilian Martinez earns the first weekly award for the Ichabods this season after competing at the ITA National Indoor Championships last week. Martinez went 3-3 overall last week while posting a 3-0 mark in singles competition. He defeated No. 26 ranked Mattia Ghedin of Lubbock Christian at No. 3 singles in three sets. He earned another ranked victory defeating No. 11 Adam Lynch in two sets against Barry to win the only point of the match for the Ichabods.  

Martinez and Tommy Cecchetti went 0-3 on the week playing at No. 1 doubles against top of the nation competition. Washburn returns to the court on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m. against Midwestern State.
