EDMOND, Okla. -- No. 16 Washburn worked its third sweep of the season Friday morning defeating Southeastern Oklahoma State 7-0 to begin a stretch of three matches in three days in Edmond. The Ichabods return to the court taking on No. 31 Harding on Saturday at 10 a.m. as well.
Tommy Cecchetti and Pavlos Parson led off the match at No. 2 with a clean sweep. Yuto Miyagawa and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji followed just behind at No. 3, working a a quick 6-1 win to secure the first point of the match for Washburn (6-5). Benjamin Fock and Zino Nahirniak won a 7-6(6) tiebreaker battle on the top court to complete a doubles sweep.
Benjamin Fock got the Ichabods started in singles, winning 6-1 and 6-0 sets at No. 6 in less than an hour on the court. Moritz Pieper followed closely behind, winning 6-3 in his opening set and sweeping his second on court five to set up match point. No. 21 Pavlos Parson provided the clinching point, sweeping 6-0 in his first set and winning 6-1 in the second at No. 1.
Zino Nahirniak kept the Savage Storm (0-6) off the board at No. 3, dropping only three games between his two sets winning 6-1 and 6-2. No. 40 Tommy Cecchett added another point, winning 6-2 in his opening set and grinding out a 6-4 win in the second on court two. No. 50 Yuto Miyagawa closed out the match sweeping 6-0 in his first set and securing a 6-3 win in the second from court four.
