WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Washburn fell behind early and wasn't able to make a comeback falling 0-13 to No. 6 Central Missouri on Tuesday afternoon. The Ichabods are back at home hosting Northeastern State for three games beginning Friday, March 27 at 4 p.m.
Offensively, Washburn (10-18, 7-9 MIAA) got two runners on in the first inning but were unable to open the scoring. The Mules followed by slashing four hits and scoring three runs in the first inning. They added three more in the second on three hits to lead 6-0.
Over the third and fourth innings Central Missouri scored three more runs while offensively the Ichabods were held without a hit in each frame. The Mules scored one more in the fifth and three in the sixth on two hits to go up 13-0. At the plate Washburn got a runner on in the fifth, sixth and seventh but never got a run across as they fell in seven innings.
Central Missouri led 14-3 in hits, with all three base knocks for the Ichabods in the first two innings of the game. The home squad also led 7-2 in walks.
Seven pitchers took the mound for Washburn, none throwing more than one inning while combining for seven strikeouts. At the plate no player reached more than once in the game.
