TEMPE, Ariz. -- Washburn men's tennis moves up to No. 9 in the latest ITA rankings while the Ichabod women remain ranked No. 18 in the rankings released by the organization on Wednesday morning.
After going 1-0 last week and extending their winning streak to eight matches the Ichabods move up from No. 13 to No. 9 in the nation. Around the conference Ouachita Baptist is ranked No. 33, Nebraska Kearney moved to No. 37, Harding is ranked No. 45 and Northwest Missouri claims the last spot at No. 50.
In the singles rankings Pavlos Parson leads five players ranked slotted at No. 36. Tommy Cecchetti moves to No. 40 and Kilian Martinez is just behind him at No. 45. Zino Nahirniak enters the rankings at No. 73 while Yuto Miyagawa slots just behind him at No. 74.
In doubles play Zino Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock rise up to No. 8 while Tommy Cecchetti and Pavlos Parson rise to No. 48.
After going 2-0 last week the Washburn women remain ranked No. 18 for a second straight week. Around the MIAA, Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 35 with Missouri Western at No. 40 and Northwest Missouri just behind with a No. 42 ranking.
Two players remain ranked in singles with Renske Ubachs ranked No. 26. Riko Konno slots in at No. 56. On the doubles side Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro are ranked No. 9 in the nation.
The Washburn women will be in action next taking on Missouri Western on Thursday, April 16 beginning at 2 p.m. while the men will face Northwest Missouri State for senior day on Saturday, April 18 beginning at 2 p.m.
