TEMPE, Ariz. -- Both Washburn Ichabod tennis teams rank inside the top-20 of the latest ITA rankings released Wednesday morning by the organization. The Ichabod men are ranked No. 13 while the women remain ranked No. 18.
Washburn men's tennis moves down four spots from a week ago after going 1-0 on the week, moving to 14-5 on the year and 5-0 in conference play. Around the conference Nebraska Kearney is ranked No. 34, Ouachita Baptist slots in at No. 38, Harding sits at No. 41 and Northwest Missouri State moves up to No. 49.
Three players rank on the singles side all in a row with Pavlos Parson at No. 42, Tommy Cecchetti and No. 43 and Kilian Martinez at No. 44 in the nation. In doubles Zino Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock remain inside the top-10 at No. 9 nationally.
The Ichabod women remain at No. 18 for a second straight week after going 2-0 with a pair of ranked victories last week. They moved to 15-3 on the year and 6-1 in MIAA play. Around the conference Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 36 with Missouri Western at No. 39 and Northwest Missouri ranked No. 41.
On the singles side Renske Ubachs is ranked No. 28 in the nation with Riko Konno slotted at No. 57. In doubles play Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro are No. 13 in the nation.
Washburn men's tennis is back in action taking on Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday, April 23 at 3 p.m. with the Ichabod women facing the Lions next on Friday, April 24 at 1 p.m.
