TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn men's tennis earned the top spot in the first NCAA Regional Rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ichabods were included in the first ranking release last Wednesday that was listed alphabetically. They are 14-5 overall on the year with a 9-0 record inside the Central Region. Nebraska Kearney sits at second in the rankings with an 11-4 record overall and 9-2 in region play.
The six-team field consists of three teams from the MIAA (Washburn, Nebraska Kearney and Northwest Missouri) along with three GAC schools (Harding, Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas).
The top four teams in the rankings will qualify for the NCAA Tournament with the top two seeds serving as host sites for one match. The winner of each will advance to the NCAA Championships.
The final set of rankings before the selection show will be released next Wednesday, April 29.
