• The Washburn Ichabod softball team will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Emporia State on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
• The Ichabods are 33-18 this season and 10-12 in the MIAA after splitting with Missouri Western on April 17 and then sweeping Northwest Missouri the following day.
• The Ichabods are currently in a tie for eighth with Northwest Missouri in the conference race at 10-12.
• Emporia State is in fourth in the conference standings with a 28-15 overall record and a 14-8 MIAA mark after sweeping Central Missouri on Wednesday in Warrensburg …the Hornets were ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Central Regional Softball rankings released on April 29.
• The Ichabods have clinched their fifth 30-win season in a row …Washburn has hit the 30-win mark for five-straight seasons dating back to the 2022 season … that is longest streak of 30 wins since a run between the 2002-07 seasons when the Ichabods recorded 30 wins six seasons in a row.

Brenda Holaday is in her 10th season as the Ichabod softball head coach recording a 316-190 overall record going 146-86 in MIAA contests leading the Ichabods to two MIAA Regular Season titles (2018, 2022) and three NCAA Central Regional (2018, 2022, 2024). Holaday became Washburn's all-time winning coach with a 13-0 win over Illinois-Springfield on Feb. 8, 2025.

Makenzie Sais became the Ichabod single-season leader in stolen bases against Montana State Billings with her 34th and she broke the MIAA single-season steals record with her 66th against Northwest Missouri on April 18 breaking the previous record of 65 by Becca Alt from Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T) set in 1997 as a junior … Sais' 83 career stolen bases at Washburn are trailing on Torrie Beauchamp's 87 from 1996-1999 and Marrit Mead's 96 from 2021-24 … Sais leads the NCAA DI, D2 and D3 levels in stolen bases and she is ranked 10th in the nation in hits with 65 … Sais is batting .441 in MIAA games.

Dalaney Anderson is seventh in the in the nation in RBI with 61 - which is one shy of tying the Ichabod single season record set by Savannah Moore's 62 RBI set in 2018 … Anderson's 1.20 RBI per game is ranked 23rd in the D2 ranks.

Aspen Burgardt is 38th in the nation in walks per game at 0.69 per contest and 40th in the nation in assists with 109.

Sadie Walker is ninth in the nation in shutouts with seven and she is 40th in strikeouts with 137 … Walker's 25 starts is 19 in the national stats … Walker has gone over the 500 career strikeout mark and has 526 entering this week ranking second on the Ichabod career chart.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team wrapped up the home slate with a senior day sweep over Northwest Missouri with wins of 2-0 and 6-3. With the victories, the Ichabods improved to 33-18 overall and 10-12 in conference play.
Game 1 -Â WU 2, NWMSU 0
Senior
Sadie Walker tossed a complete-game shutout as Washburn knocked off the Bearcats in the opener. Walker scattered six hits over seven innings, striking out five and working out of multiple jams to keep Northwest off the scoreboard.
After five scoreless innings, Washburn broke through in the bottom of the sixth.
Makenzie Sais jump-started the rally with a triple to left center, setting the table for the game's first run.
Kate Dolan followed with an RBI single to left to plate Sais, giving the Ichabods a 1-0 lead.
Aspen Burgardt delivered another timely hit, singling to center driving in Dolan extending the advantage to 2-0.
Washburn totaled six hits in the opener, with Sais going 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. In the first inning Sais became the MIAA's single season leader in stolen bases collecting her 65th to tie and 66th to break the record held by Becky Alt of Missouri S&T since 1997. Burgardt finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Walker sealed the win by retiring the final three batters in the seventh.
Game 2 – WU 6, NWMSU 3
The nightcap featured a balanced offensive attack and another steady pitching performance as Washburn completed the sweep over the Bearcats winning its ninth game over NWMSU in the last 11 meetings.
Northwest Missouri struck first with an unearned run in the top of the first, but Washburn responded in the third as
Maddie McGee tied the game with an RBI double, and
Dalaney Anderson followed with a two-run double to put the Ichabods in front for good at 3-1.
Anderson delivered again in the fifth, ripping another two-run double to cap a three-run inning. She finished the game with 4 RBI.
Senior
Jenna Sprague earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits over seven innings while striking out five.
Washburn tallied six runs on six hits, with
Kate Ediger scoring twice and
Erin Boles adding a hit and a run scored.
