KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team swept the MIAA Athletes of the Week as a pair of seniors – pitcher Jenna Sprague and infielder Kate Ediger – were both honored after leading the Ichabods to two doubleheader sweeps last weekend.

Jenna Sprague was 2-0 in two starts with two complete-game shutouts with a 0.00 ERA with wins over Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State.  She struck out 10 for the week, scattering eight hits overall in 14 innings of work. In her first shutout, she held the Lopers to three hits while striking out six with one walk in a 4-0 win needing only 77 pitches. Against the Tigers, she recorded four strikeouts with no walks allowing five hits in a 6-0 win.

Kate Ediger batted .714 as the Ichabods were 4-0 collecting 10 hits including five doubles and six runs scored adding a 1.071 slugging percentage and a .714 on base percentage. She had five hits in each doubleheader last week against the Tigers and the Lopers.
