TOPEKA, Kan. -- For a third consecutive season Washburn baseball landed a member of the NCBWA All-Central Region team as junior Ian Luce was selected as a second team selection by the organization on Friday afternoon.
Ian Luce becomes the 11th Ichabod to be named an All-Region selection and it is the 12th nod for the program overall since 2012. Luce is the second outfielder to earn the honor for Washburn.
The junior from Manhattan, Kan. finished second on the Ichabod single-season hit charts with 91 total base knocks across 51 games played and started. He hit .417 with a 1.181 OPS and a .502 while tallying five triples and nine home runs to drive in 51 RBI. He was also 18-21 in stealing bases, a team high. In the field Luce did not allow an error on the season with 87 putouts and two outfield assists.
The NCBWA All-Region teams are voted on by members of the organization's regional committees, comprised of sports information directors and athletic communications specialists. Each First Team member automatically advances to the All-America ballot, and teams will be announced in late May.
