Ichabod men's tennis ends season No. 10 in ITA rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Washburn men's tennis finished the season ranked No. 10 in the final ITA Rankings of the season released by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Ichabods finished the season 20-6 overall after going 5-0 inside the MIAA/GAC North in the regular season and winning the MIAA/GAC Tournament Championship Tournament for a fourth straight season. Washburn moved up one spot from a No. 11 rank in the previous ranking.  

In the NCAA Tournament the Ichabods advanced to the NCAA National Quarterfinals for a second straight season after defeating Ferris State 4-0 in the NCAA Round of 16.  

Around the rankings the National Champion Flagler ranks No. 1 in the nation followed by West Florida and Barry to round out the top three. In the conference Harding finished ranked No. 29, Nebraska Kearney is No. 39, Ouachita Baptist at No. 45 and Northwest Missouri finishes at No. 47.  

On the individual side three players are ranked in singles led by Pavlos Parson with a No. 44 ranking. Kilian Martinez finishes his freshman season at No. 47 in the nation while Tommy Cecchetti is ranked No. 51.  

In doubles Zino Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock are ranked No. 12 in the nation while Pavlos Parson and Tommy Cecchetti jump up to No. 18 in the nation in doubles.
