KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team had seven different players earn 11 different honors as the 2026 All-MIAA Softball team was announced today by the league office.
Sophomore outfielder
Makenzie Sais was the lone Ichabod representative on the first team after earning second-team honors last season. Sais leads all levels of the NCAA with 67 stolen bases this season while batting .419 (seventh in the MIAA) with 72 hits (fourth in the MIAA) while scoring 46 runs with 29 walks ranking fifth in the MIAA in on base percentage at .505. Sais was also one of four Ichabods to be named to the Gold Glove team. She recorded 80 putouts with three outfield assists, committing only one error.
Senior pitcher
Sadie Walker was named second-team all-MIAA after going 18-8 in the circle with 13 complete games, six shutouts with a 2.29 ERA in 32 appearances. Walker's 18 wins is tied for third in the MIAA this season and her 171 innings pitched are second, her 26 starts are third and her 142 strikeouts are fifth in the MIAA rankings. Walker was a second-team all-MIAA pick as a sophomore.
Sophomore
Dalaney Anderson was a second-team all-MIAA pick at second base after breaking the Ichabod single season RBI mark with her 64th against Emporia State last weekend. Anderson is batting .297 starting all 53 games leading the Ichabods with 12 home runs. Anderson is fourth in the MIAA in RBI, sixth in home runs.
Earning Honorable Mention all-MIAA honors were sophomore catcher
Madi Moore, senior first baseman
Kate Ediger, freshman outfielder
Taylor Brees and junior infielder
Aspen Burgardt. Moore, Ediger and Burgardt were also named to the MIAA Gold Glove team.
Moore earns her second MIAA Gold Glove award after picking it up as a freshman in 2024 after missing the 2025 season. For the second consecutive season, Moore recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 253 putouts and 21 assists. With the bat, Moore hit .291 with 14 doubles and 29 RBI adding three home runs.
Ediger, who moved from third base to first base this season, had only two errors in 350 chances with 340 putouts. She also batted .354 starting all 53 games, leading the team with 15 doubles.
Brees started 49 of 50 games in her first season as an Ichabod and is second on the squad with a .388 batting average scoring 37 runs with 52 hits and 31 RBI while drawing 28 walks going 16 for 16 in stolen bases.
Burgardt started all 53 games en route to honorable mention honors after batting .349 with 52 hits and 13 doubles adding 31 RBI drawing 36 walks, which is third in the MIAA.
The Ichabods will open postseason play on Wednesday in Emporia as the No. 8 seed facing the No. 9-seeded Missouri Western Griffons at 3 p.m.
