GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Washburn Ichabod baseball team was recognized for its work in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year as they were named to the list of schools earning the American Baseball Coaches Association Excellence Award by the organization on Wednesday morning.  

This award recognizes ABCA member teams from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year. 

This year nearly 500 college programs and more than 320 high schools around the nation earned the honor. 

Washburn was one of five schools from the MIAA to receive the award. They were joined by Central Missouri, Fort Hays State, Rogers State and Emporia State.   

It is the sixth season in the last seven that the Ichabods earned the award.
