Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 4 Washburn rolls to 4-0 win over No. 19 Maryville in season opener

TOPEKA, Kan – The No. 4 ranked Washburn women's soccer team defeated No. 19 ranked Maryville 4-0 on Thursday night at Yager Stadium.

FIRST HALF
The Ichabods struck first right away, when Mackinly Rohn scored off a penalty kick in the third minute. Leah Henke was fouled in the penalty box in the 10th minute but was unable to connect on the penalty kick. The score remained 1-0 going into intermission. 

SECOND HALF
Henke scored a pair of goals in the 53rd and 58th minutes to expand Washburn's lead to 3-0. Henke found Rohn for her second goal of the night shortly after, in the 63rd minute. Despite launching six shots on goal in the final nine minutes, Maryville was unable to score.

GAME NOTES
  • Washburn outshot Maryville 14-11, including 8-7 on goal. 
  • Ize Tidball recorded a game high six saves in only 17 minutes of action.
  • Henke led all players with six shots and had a team high three shots on goal.
  • Henke and Rohn each scored a pair of goals.
  • Lili Everley and Chloe Kolm led the Ichabods with 73 minutes.  
UP NEXT
Washburn will face No. 9 ranked Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Yager Stadium. UMSL lost their season opener to MIAA foe Pittsburg State 5-0 on Thursday morning.
