PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn women's soccer team dropped its first match of the season to No. 12 Pittsburg State, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Livi Jones gave the Gorillas a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, marking the first time the Ichabods have trailed this season. Washburn was outshot 6-0 in the first half.
Inclement weather in the area caused a nearly three-hour rain delay, with play stopping in the 60th minute.
Washburn recorded seven shots in the second half, including a shot on goal from
Leah Henke in the 74th minute, but PSU goalkeeper Jocelyn Kramar made the save.
Rilyn Snyder nearly tied the match at 1-1, but her shot sailed just over the crossbar.
Grace Peterson and
Sam Searcey each recorded shots in the final five minutes, but neither was able to find the back of the net as the Ichabods were unable to equalize.

- Pittsburg State outshot Washburn 8-7, including 4-2 on goal.
- This is the first time PSU has defeated the Ichabods in program history.
