TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn women's soccer team gave Missouri Western its first loss of the season, defeating the Griffons 2-0 on Friday night at Yager Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bricelyn Betts scored in the 22
nd minute off a rebounded shot from
Avery McCorry, giving Washburn an early 1-0 lead. Following a yellow card from Missouri Western's Jaida Douch,
Presslee Amick sent a pass to
Sam Searcey who connected on her second goal of the season in the 28
th minute.
Washburn held on the remaining 45 minutes, only allowing three shots in the second half, all of which were on goal. Chaleigh Depner and Marielle Wright each recorded a shot on goal in the final three minutes for the Griffons but were unable to connect.Â
