TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn women's soccer team defeated Northwest Missouri State 2-0 in a MIAA match on Sunday afternoon at Yager Stadium.

Washburn improves to 7-1-1 and 3-1 in the MIAA and Northwest Missouri State falls to 1-7-1 and 1-3 in the MIAA.

Washburn head coach Davy Phillips reached a career milestone Sunday, earning his 100th win with the Ichabods. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite having eight shots in the first 45 minutes, Washburn was unable to record a goal. The Ichabods didn't allow a single shot attempt from the Bearcats, as the two teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Leah Henke wasted no time in the second half, scoring her team leading sixth goal of the season off an Avery McCorry assist in the 47^th minute. Bricelyn Betts scored her fourth goal of the season, off an assist from McCorry in the 66^thminute.

• Washburn outshot NWMSU 19-3, including 5-1 on goal. 
• Washburn has won three straight matches against Northwest Missouri State, dating back to Nov. 1, 2024.
