KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn freshman outfielder Makenzie Sais has been named the MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week after her performance in four games last week as the Ichabods went 3-1 splitting a doubleheader with Central Missouri on April 6 before sweeping Newman on April 7.

Sais batted .727 going 8 for 11 with seven runs scored adding two stolen bases. In the opener against Central Missouri she tied a school record drawing four walks in a single game tying Tish Williams who also accomplished the feat on April 17, 2010 also against the Jennies. In that same game, Sais tied another school record scoring four runs in the same contest for the 11th time in program history and the first since Marrit Mead scored four times against Newman on April 18, 2021. Sais had hits in every game during the week raising her batting averaged from .345 to .380.
