Washburn head coach
Ron McHenry has posted a 194-38 (.839) record overall and 98-26 (.790) record in the MIAA with four MIAA regular season championships from 2003-06 and the 2005 NCAA National Championship. He was named the Lady Blues head coach prior to the 2000-01 season. He is second among active women's NCAA Division II Coaches in winning percentage. McHenry was named the MIAA's Coach of the Year in 2005 and in 2006 and the Division II Bulletin National Coach of the Year in 2005. (complete bio on page 2 of notes.)
Kevin Hackerott is 5-29 in his second year at Cameron after spending four years as the head coach at Pratt CC. He is 0-2 against WU.

Last Time Out for the lady Blues . . .
Dec. 10, 2007 - #12 Drury 66, #3 Washburn 47 • SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 3 ranked Washburn Lady Blues fell for the first time this season 66-47 to No. 12 ranked Drury on the road falling to 6-1 on the season.
The Lady Blues trailed for the first time at the break by three 28-25 after shooting 35 percent in the half hitting 12 of 34 shots. Drury jumped out to a 9-0 lead to begin the game as Washburn did not hit their first field goal until the 15:19 mark of the half on a lay-up by
Corkey Stiger.
Washburn held the Lady Panthers to 9 of 25 shooting in the first half, but held an 8 of 10 advantage from the free throw line as Washburn was 0 of 4.
In the second half, Drury pushed the lead to 38-26 to open the half and would eventually push their lead to as many as 20 late in the game.
Stiger led the Lady Blues with 14 points as the only Washburn player to reach double figures.
Jessica Mainz had nine points.
Washburn committed 23 turnovers in the loss and were held to five field goals in the second half.
Washburn did hold a 47 to 35 advantage on the glass with 22 coming on the offensive end.
Washburn/Cameron series notes . . .
The Lady Blues lead the all-time series 5-0 with Washburn both meetings last season. The Lady Blues won the two meetings before that in games that were played in Las Vegas. The other meeting in Las Vegas was on Dec. 17, 2003 with the Lady Blues winning by a 72-61 score. The first meeting in the series on Dec. 7, 2002 in Springfield, Mo., with Washburn winning by a 64-54 count.
Last Meeting Between Washburn and Cameron . . .
Nov. 24, 2006 - TOPEKA -- TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 6 Washburn Lady Blues used a 21 to 6 run over the first 8:35 of the second half turning a 11-point halftime lead into a 23 point win in an 89-66 win over Cameron in the second game of the Premier Mortgage/AM 580 WIBW Radio Holiday Classic. It was the second win in as many games for the Lady Blues topping the Lady Aggies six days ago 93-65 at the Emporia State Classic on Nov. 18.
Washburn (3-0) fell behind early in the first half as Cameron (0-4) jumped out to a 13-8 lead before Washburn would rally with a mini 8-0 run pushing the lead to 22-17 and to a as many as 13 in the first half taking a 34-25 lead into the break.
The Lady Blues then came out of the break on fire and continued their hot shooting in the second half connecting on 19 of 35 attempts finishing at a 48 percent clip for the game.
Brooke Ubelaker led Washburn with 18 points pacing four Lady Blues in double figures.
Corkey Stiger scored 16 off the bench. Jessica Aebi scored 15 and
Cindy Keeley recorded a new career high with 13 rebounds and also scored 11 points chalking up her first career double double at Washburn in the win.
Shantel Whitaker led the Lady Aggies with 15 points.
About Cameron . . .
Cameron is 1-7 this season and before heading to Florida, the Lady Aggies will take on Incarnate Word on Dec. 14. Cameron's lone win came over Missouri Western on Nov. 17 in a 53-45 win at the ESU Thanksgiving Tournament. The Lady Aggies were beat by Pittsburg State and Emporia State twice from the MIAA ranks this season. Keindra Scott leads a trio of Lady Aggies in double figures with a 15.5 ppg average.

Dec. 8, 2007 – LAWTON, Oklahoma – Looking to get back on the winning track at home in Aggie Gym, the Cameron Aggie women's basketball team (1-7) fell to the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas (4-5) in a Lone Star Conference crossover contest. The Aggies played great defense, but could not put up enough points to defeat the Javelinas. In the end Cameron lost their sixth straight, 61-51.
CU shot just 33 percent from the floor this evening compared to TAMUK's 40 percent. The Aggies also made just 2 of 20 three-point attempts. Although Cameron led the game in rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, and had fewer turnovers than the Javelinas, their shooting percentage did them in.
The game went back and forth with multiple lead changes. The Aggies opened up the game with an early lead, but the Javelinas responded by opening up a 14-point lead of their own. Late in the second half CU rallied by taking back the lead multiple times, but TAMUK held on for the victory.
Junior guard Jasmine Parr led the team offensively tonight with a team-high 14 points on 5-14 shooting. She also recorded a pair of rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist in her 37 minutes on the floor.
Barely missing out on a double-double was junior forward Keindra Scott who finished the game with 12 points (4-10 FG) and 9 rebounds, a team-high. Scott also finished the night with 2 assists, and a team-high in both blocks (3) and steals (4). She played 29 minutes in the game.
Senior guard Tiffany Williams was the other Aggie to put up double-digit scoring numbers, finishing the contest with 10 points on 3 of 14 shooting. Additionally, Williams chipped in 8 rebounds and 2 assists in 38 minutes of play.

Washburn leads the all-time series 2-0.
Washburn won the last meeting Nov. 18, 2005 in Joplin, Mo., by a 96-59 score. The other meeting took place on Dec. 9, 1994 and the Lady Blues won that meeting 75-68.
Last Meeting Between Washburn and Central Oklahoma . . .
The No. 1 Washburn Lady Blues basketball team opened the season with a 96-59 win over Central Oklahoma in the Missouri Southern Pizza Hut/Fairfield Inn Classic in Joplin, Mo.The Lady Blues jumped out to a 15-0 lead and kept UCO off the board until the 14:19 mark of the first half.
Brooke Ubelaker 20 of her 27 points in the first half nearly outscoring UCO who scored 23 in the first half as a team. The Lady Blues shot 52 percent in the first half hitting 17 of 33 shot from the field and increased their shooting to 60 percent in the second half hitting 18 of 30 attempts from the field. Following Ubelaker's 27 points, Jennifer Harris had 16 and Amada Holmes and Bojana Samardziska each scored 12 points.
Megan Sullivan scored 11.
About Central Oklahoma . . .
Central Oklahoma is 6-2 this season after topping Eastern New Mexico last time out on Dec. 8 96-80. UCO will take on Barry on Dec. 18th in their first game of the Cruzin Classic before taking on Washburn.
Lizzie Brenner leads UCO in scoring with a 19.3 ppg average. She is also averaging double figure rebounds with 10.3 per contest.

EDMOND (Dec. 8) – Cassidy Pillow scored 16 of 20 points in the second half to spark Central Oklahoma to a come-from-behind 96-80 rout of Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.
The Zias used a 3-point barrage to overcome UCO's big early lead and take a 48-42 halftime advantage, but Pillow and the Bronchos overwhelmed ENMU in the final 20 minutes to win going away.
UCO shot 65.6 percent (21-of-32) from the field in the second half to outscore the Zias 54-32. The Bronchos also had 15 steals in the game while forcing 31 turnovers, turning those miscues into a staggering 40 points.
The Bronchos, who had a five-game winning streak stopped by No. 20-ranked West Texas A&M Thursday night, got several outstanding individual efforts against the Zias in improving to 6-2.
Pillow was 8-of-9 from the field with a 3-pointer in her 20-point outing, making all six of her shots in the second half. Lizzie Brenner fell two rebounds short of a triple-double, scoring a game-high 22 points while also making a career-high 10 steals and pulling down eight boards.
Mallory Markus added 19 points and five rebounds, Cristina Yarbrough dished out a career-high 10 assists and freshman Ashley Beckley contributed eight points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench.
ENMU made 10 3-pointers in taking its 48-42 halftime lead, but UCO turned up the defensive pressure and pulled even at 54-54 just five minutes into the second half on a Karlie Free jumper.
The Bronchos went ahead for good seconds later on a Pillow layup off a Yarbrough assist and Yarbrough drove inside for another layup and a 58-54 lead with 13:36 left to play.
It was a six-point advantage at 68-62 with 11:11 remaining when UCO put the game away with a 12-2 run. Pillow started that spurt with a layup at the 10:54 mark and she ended it with a trey from the top of the key four minutes later to give the Bronchos a commanding 80-64 lead.
The Zias got no closer than 12 the rest of the way.
UCO appeared to take control early in the game, using a big 15-0 run to turn a 9-8 deficit into a 23-9 lead with 11:38 left in the half, but the Zias made seven 3-pointers the rest of the way to surge in front 48-42 by intermission.
The Bronchos still had a 14-point lead at 27-13 with 9:54 remaining, but ENMU scored 10 straight points to pull within 27-23 at the 6:59 mark and the Zias surged in front 31-30 on a Cat Clay layup at 4:41.
ENMU stretched its lead to nine (46-37) with 1:28 left in the half before settling for the 48-42 lead as UCO missed three layups in the final four seconds.

The Washburn Lady Blues slipped from No. 3 to No. 8 in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll which was released Dec. 11. Washburn was ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll which was released on Oct. 31. The Lady Blues were ranked No. 8 in the final poll of the 2007-08 season after finishing with a 29-4 overall record. The poll marks the 91st consecutive week the Lady Blues have been ranked.
