WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The No. 13 Washburn Lady Blues took a 3-1 lead into halftime in its top 25 battle with No. 17 but couldn't hold on to the lead as the Central Oklahoma came back to knot the score and force
a 3-3 tie in double overtime. Washburn will wrap up its trip to Texas on Sunday against host school Midwestern State at 3 p.m.
The Lady Blues (0-0-1) started out strong as
Manon Englehardt scored her first and second goals of the season within 23 minutes of one another to put Washburn up 2-0. Englehardt's first goal came on an
assist from
Keeley Lambeth and her second was from
Jessica Mainz.
The Bronchos cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Lacy Cooley in the 28th minute. However, Washburn pushed the lead back to 3-1 on
Lisa Fahey's first career goal at Washburn. She scored on a corner kick assist from
Brie Forman.
UCO scored the next two goals of the match to tie the score at 3-3 and neither team scored in the final 28:31 of regulation forcing overtime. In the first overtime, each team attempted one shot on goal and neither team was credited with a shot on goal in the second overtime period.
