TOPEKA, Kan. - Washburn Soccer added two more recruits for the upcoming 2026 season.
Chloe Kolm, who will be a Freshman from Lincoln, Nebraska, joins her high school teammate Haley Thomsen. The Ichabods also added a two-year transfer goalkeeper, Avery Young, who played a year at Johnson County CC and a year at Baker University.

Kolm joins Washburn after a standout prep career at Pius X High School. A multi-year varsity defender, she helped lead her teams to multiple state runner-up finishes, including a Class A second-place finish in 2024 and a Class B second-place finish in 2025. She earned First Team All-District honors, Academic All-State recognition, and multiple All-State selections.
Personal: The daughter of Kurt and Melissa Kolm… has three sisters, Mekenna, Ava, and Hadley… plans on majoring in Business.
Avery Young

Young joins Washburn as a two-year transfer after an accomplished collegiate career at Johnson County Community College and Baker University. A goalkeeper, she earned multiple weekly honors at both stops, including NJCAA Player of the Week and National Goalkeeper of the Week accolades during her time at JCCC. She was named Jayhawk Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-Conference while helping the Cavaliers win a conference championship, regional title, and advance to the national tournament. Young also earned NAIA Player of the Week honors twice at Baker University and was a Heart Conference Second Team All-Conference selection.
Personal: The daughter of Megan and Chad Young… has one sister, Chloe, and two brothers, Westen and Nash… plans on majoring in Social Work.
