Setting the Scene:
Following a two-game swing through Texas, the No. 17 ranked Washburn Lady Blues return home to take on Rockhurst at 7 p.m. in Yager Stadium in their home debut. Washburn enters the match with an 0-1-1 record while the Hawks are 2-0-0. Following the match with the Hawks, the Lady Blues will travel to take on their second set of Lone Star Conference squads in Weatherford, Okla., as they will take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Aug. 31 and then West Texas A&M on Sunday, Sept. 2.
About the Hawks:
Quick Kicks: Rockhurst is 2-0-0 to being the season after topping Emporia State 4-0 in their opener and Delta State 5-2 last time out on Sunday.
About Rockhurst: The Hawks are led in scoring by Lindsey Miller, who has scored two goals to pace their attack. Lisa Schwartz leads in overall points with five. Lindsay Ewert, who recorded the only hat trick against Washburn in the program's history also has four points.
About the coach: Greg Herdlick enters his ninth season as the head coach of the Rockhurst women's soccer program. The Hawks have posted seven winning seasons under Herdlick, who has an overall record of 83-53-8 and is the fourth winningest coach in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a .599 winning percentage.
Series history: Rockhurst leads the all-time series 1-0-1.
Last meeting: Sept. 6, 2006 - Tie 1-1 (2ot) KANSAS CITY, MO. - The Washburn Lady Blues went the distance with Rockhurst playing all 110 minutes with neither team coming out on top in a 1-1 double overtime draw. With the tie, the Washburn record goes to 4-0-1 extending its unbeaten streak to eight matches dating back to the 2005 season.
The lone goal was scored by Meagan Horvath on a free kick from 25-yards out that went past Rockhurst goalkeeper Alyssa Miller in the 37th minute of action. It was Horvath's first goal of the season.
The Hawks tied it in the 53rd minute as Rockhurst's Sarah Anderson hit Lisa Schwarz on a give and go from 5-yards out for the equalizer rounding out the scoring for both teams in the match.
In the overtime period, each team manufactured one shot and Rockhurst out shot the Lady Blues 2-1 in the second overtime. Washburn out shot the Hawks 15 to 10 in the match.
Washburn goalie Jenna Hatledstad allowed the one goal while picking up three saves.
About the Bulldogs:
Quick Kicks: Southwestern Oklahoma State is 0-2 after falling to Adams State 6-0 and New Mexico Highlands 1-0 in their first weekend of action.
About the coach: Joe Bradley his in his sixth season at the helm of the Bulldogs' program. He is 32-67-12 overall.

Last meeting: Sept. 9, 2006 - Washburn 4, Southwestern Oklahoma 1: TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to nine matches with a 4-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Washburn's Jolene Silovsky scored her fifth goal of the season after taking a pass down the middle of the field and launching a shot from 30-yards out past the Bulldog goalkeeper to put the Lady Blues up 1-0.
The Bulldogs' Stephanie Kneedler tied the score on an assist from Jamie Hilterbran in the 31st minute of action. Amanda Geist scored her first goal of the season on an
Ashley Taylor assist for the game-winner. Washburn's
Traci Nigg and Courtney Russell each added their first goals of the season pushing the final margin to 4-1.
Jenna Hatlestad recorded the win in goal for the Lady Blues stopping two Bulldog shots. Washburn out shot Southwestern Oklahoma 21 to 7 in the win.
About the Lady Buffs:
Quick Kicks: West Texas A&M is 2-0 this season after topping Adams State 7-1 and New Mexico Highlands 2-0. Sophomore Kendal Kitchens leads the Lady Buffs attack with two goals and two assists this season. The Lady Buffs have out shot their opponents 54 to 22 in two matches. They received votes in this week's national poll.
About the coach: Butch Lauffer is in his 12th season as the Lady Buffs head coach. He is 148-53-10 overall.
Series history: The meeting will be the first in school history between the two teams.
Lady Blues Soccer History:
Washburn is 35-31-15 (.531) all-time in its fifth season of competing. In MIAA play, the Lady Blues are 22-24-11 (.481). In home matches, the Lady Blues are 18-14-5 and they are 12-16-7 on the road. In matches on neutral sites, the Lady Blues are 5-1-3.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Texas heat and a double overtime match from the day before were too much for the No. 13 ranked Washburn Lady Blues to overcome as they fell to Midwestern State 1-0 in the final match of the MSU Classic.
Playing in 103 degree heat, the Lady Blues (0-1-1) were outshot 17 to 7 as Midwestern State (2-0-0) scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute putting them up 1-0.
The Lady Blues recorded only two shots on goal as
Jessica Mainz and
Traci Nigg had the two attempts for Washburn.

Ashley Klone picked up eight saves in her collegiate debut in net for the Lady Blues.

Lady Blues in the National Poll:
The Lady Blues enter the 2007 season ranked No. 13 in the National Soccer Coaches Association National Preseason Poll which was released last week. The Lady Blues finished the 2006 season ranked No. 12 in the final poll. Washburn has been ranked in the last nine national polls earning a ranking as high as No. 10 in the final regular season poll last year.
Blue Notes:
• The Lady Blues fell to 4-0-1 all-time in their first match of the season with the tie to Central Oklahoma.
• The Lady Blues are 3-9-2 all-time against ranked opponents. In 2005, Washburn was 3-0-1 after going 0-9-0 the first three years of the program.
Up next: The Lady Blues hit the road again for four straight matches, including two this weekend in Weatherford, Okla., against Southwestern Oklahoma State and West Texas A&M - their second set of weekend matches against Lone Star Conference teams. Washburn will then open the MIAA season on Sept. 8 at Emporia State at 2 p.m.
