Taylor's 2nd half goal pushes WU to 1-0 win over NWMSU

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Ashley Taylor's fourth goal of the season pushed Washburn to a 1-0 win over Northwest Missouri. The win was the sixth in a row for the Lady Blues who improved to 10-5-1 on the season and 6-4-0 in the MIAA. Washburn will be back in action on Oct. 23 when they travel to Nebraska-Omaha at 4 p.m.

After a scoreless first half in which the Lady Blues were outshot 11 to 7, Washburn turned the tables in the second half outshooting the Bearcats 15 to 5 in the second half.

Taylor's goal came at the 54:30 mark of the match as she beat the goalie to the right corner of the net on an assist from Jordan Shefte. Jenny Persons recorded the shutout, her fifth of the season as she improved to 6-0-0 in net for the Lady Blues this season. Persons had eight saves for Washburn.

Jessica Mainz had seven shots and Danielle Ayala had five.

The six-match winning streak ties the school record for most consecutive wins. The 2006 MIAA Champion Lady Blues soccer team won six straight matches.
