WICHITA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod tennis team fell in their season-opener 9-0 to the Division I Wichita State Shockers.
The Ichabods put up a solid effort in doubles play falling down one break in two of the three doubles matches to begin the afternoon.
In singles play,
Ryan Ward pushed Albert Ballesta at No. 2 sinlges to three sets before dropping the third set 10-7.
Washburn will be back in action on Feb. 23 against Barton County beginning at 3 p.m. at Wood Valley Tennis Center off of 37th and Gage.
