Lady Blues softball team drops three games on first day of UCO Classic

EDMOND, Okla. -- The Washburn Lady Blues dropped three games by a combined four runs on the first day of the Central Oklahoma Classic. Washburn will look to rebound as they will play three games on Sunday.

Game 1 -- Southern Nazarene 2, Washburn 1 | Season Stats
Washburn dropped their opener 2-1 to Southern Nazarene. SNU scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth off starter Nicole Perkuhn. Washburn pushed one across in the top of the seventh, on a Mandy Tarbutton triple scoring Ashley Shaffer who pinch ran for Dani White after she doubled. However with one out, Washburn could not score the tying run. Washburn was held to three hits.

Game 2 -- Central Oklahoma 3, Washburn 1

Against the host Bronchos, Washburn fell behind 3-0 after two innings, and scored their only run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Dani White.
Kelly Swygert took the loss allowing the three earned runs scattering eight hits.

Game 3 -- St. Gregory's 2, Washburn 1
In the nightcap against St. Gregory's, Washburn led 1-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but St. Gregory's scored two in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win. Washburn was again limited to three hits. WU's Kayla Long struck out four in the loss.
