BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues softball team swept an MIAA doubleheader from Southwest Baptist taking the first game 9-7 in nine innings and the second game 9-1 in five innings. Washburn will travel down the interstate for the Turnpike Tussle to face Emporia State beginning at 3 p.m.

Washburn let a 6-2 lead after four innings slip away but rallied to score four unanswered runs in a 9-7 win over the Lady Bearcats.
Washburn opened the game with four runs in the first inning as
Tish Williams led off the game with the first of her two home runs in the game. Williams added her second homer of the game in her next at bat in the second inning.
After SBU scored five runs in the fourth, Washburn added one in the fifth on a home run by
Brooke DeVader and scored an unearned run in the sixth taking the 9-7 win after holding SBU scoreless the final five innings of the game.
Nicole Perkuhn picked up the win in relief for Washburn.

The Lady Blues scored seven runs in third inning en route to a 9-1 win in five innings. DeVader hit her second home run of the day and her school-record 36th of her career.
Washburn pounded out 13 hits in the win including three by
Whitney Tapp to go along with three RBI and a run scored.
Kayla Long picked up the win allowing one unearned run.
